SALARY (A-E Steps) Institutional Licensed Crisis Health Worker I: $30.43 - $36.99 Hourly/$2,434.40 - $2,959.20 Biweekly Institutional Licensed Crisis Health Worker II: $33.59 - $40.83 Hourly/$2,687.20 - $3,266.40 Biweekly Definition: Under general supervision performs routine patient care, vocational nursing care and/or rehabilitative treatment services to clients and inmates in adult correctional facilities or field services programs such as the Mobile Crisis Response Unit. May provide leadership to assigned staff. Performs related duties as assigned

Examples of Duties Provides effective client/inmate care and nursing duties and, as required, administers medications, monitors and charts vital signs; notifies supervisor and/or physicians of any changes in client/inmate conditions. May provide on-scene crisis intervention and referrals when community members are undergoing a mental health crisis. May perform duties as treatment nurse, including assessing, cleansing and dressing wounds, skin tears, abrasions, lesions, etc., and implementing appropriate treatments

Please click on the title below to view the full job descriptions: Institutional Licensed Crisis Health Worker I | Institutional Licensed Crisis Health Worker II Education, Experience & Licenses Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade.

Experience working in a 24-hour psychiatric or adult correctional facility is desirable. Institutional Licensed Crisis Health Worker I: Requires no experience. Completion of formal education leading to licensure/certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT).

Institutional Licensed Crisis Health Worker II: Two (2) years of LVN/LPT experience required. Completion of formal education leading to licensure/certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT). License & Special Requirements: Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required.

Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Requires a valid certification of registration as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians Must complete periodic continuing education coursework as required to maintain active licensure. Must possess, or be willing to obtain, national provider identifier (NPI).

Requires CPR certification. Must successfully complete an extensive and thorough law enforcement background investigation. Recruitment Information The department currently has multiple vacancies.

In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for an Institutional Licensed Crisis Health Worker I/II (LNV/LPT), as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list. Testing Dates: September 4-8, 2026. Testing will be provided via email.

Tentative Interview Date(s): 1st- Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. 2nd- Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. *Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to interview.

New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step. In compliance with current regulations in the state of California, this position does not require employees obtain a COVID-19 vaccination, although it is highly recommended.
