Job description

Starting rate of pay:
$20.09/hour plus $1.50 shift differential on night shift.
Shifts Available and Hours:
Day and Night 12-hr shift continental schedules - (7.00AM - 7.00PM) or (7.00PM - 7.00AM).
What you will be doing
  • Operate various equipment.
  • Inspect equipment daily to ensure proper safety devices are in place (i.e. guarding) and notify leadership of any safety concerns.
  • Visually inspect work for defects.
  • Remove billet from furnace, guide it along extrusion press conveyor onto press bed, and into billet container.
  • Start ram that spreads billet into container and forces it through press.
  • Regulate rate of extrusion to prevent metal rupture and adherence of metal to container walls.
  • Start press run-out table and butt shears to guide extrusion from press, and to trim flash.
  • Pull extrusion along conveyor to racking table.
  • Spray die with lubricant and caustic, and oils blocks and mandrels.
  • Record data, such as crew time, number of billets used, and items processed.
  • May operate extrusion press equipped with furnace that ejects hot billets into press chamber for ram to force through die,
  • Inspect or measure using precision measuring instruments, such as tape measure, calipers, height gage, micrometers, etc.
  • Read blueprints to the extent necessary for the job at hand.
  • Set up and operate extrusion press to shape hot, aluminum profiles.
  • Responsible for quality parts, within the scope of responsibilities and required to visually inspect parts and identify obvious flaws or manufacturing problems.
  • Sponsor and support of all Continuous Reliability Improvement standards and practices through implemented predictive measures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What will make you successful?
  • Prior knowledge of extrusion department desired.
  • Prior machinery experience a plus.
  • Manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills required to maintain tolerances where gauges or test equipment are provided.
  • Must have ability to communicate.
  • Work well with all employees at all levels.
  • Willingness to learn new processes.
  • Work with limited supervision.
