The primary responsibility of this position is to operate chemical processes and equipment correctly, while meeting production goals and expectations on a consistent basis, while maintaining compliance of Environmental, Health & Safety Standards.  

Your role and responsibilities:

  • To operate chemical processes and equipment correctly, while meeting production goals and expectations on a consistent basis, while maintaining compliance of Environmental, Health & Safety Standards.
  • Must follow SOP's/POP's and all other procedures in every detail, including safety policies.
  • Participate in end of shift turnovers with ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including respirators.
  • Must operate equipment (for example, pumps, GLV's, filter presses, pan filters, reactors, valves, pH probes, ovens, forklifts, etc) in a reasonable and self-sustaining manner.
  • Responsible for understanding basic chemical reactions and properties of chemicals within the work area.
  • Responsible for handling and processing Hazardous Waste as required within the work area.
  • At times may be required to wear hearing protection, and half-mask respirator, and other forms of PPE. 

What is required for this role:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in basic chemical operations or related experience required
  • Work week: one week 3 days scheduled, 4 days off and following week 4 days scheduled, 3 days off
  • 12 hour shifts bringing you to 28 hours of overtime pay per pay check + opportunity for additional overtime.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and convert calculations to percentage and to metric system.
  • Understand concepts involving statistics, probabilities and formula manipulation and perform basic calculations on volume, mass, atomic percentages, weight percentages, density, molecular weight of alloys and compounds and charge weights.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; smell.
  • Must be able to  occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be assigned shifts that include evening, nights and/or weekend days.
  • Able to successfully complete a background check, pre-placement physical exam and drug screen.
