Immigration Specialist Location: Herndon, VA
Job ID: 219076 About the Opportunity PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking an experienced Immigration Specialist to support U.S. immigration operations and global mobility initiatives in Herndon, VA. This role serves as the primary point of contact for immigration-related matters, partnering closely with HR, management, employees, and external immigration vendors to ensure timely, compliant, and efficient processing of visas, permanent residency applications, PERM filings, and related immigration activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong immigration expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to drive process improvements while ensuring compliance with federal immigration regulations. Key Responsibilities
Immigration Operations * Manage U.S. immigration processes, including visa sponsorship, renewals, petitions, permanent residency applications, and PERM labor certifications.
* Serve as the primary liaison for immigration-related inquiries from employees, managers, HR teams, and external immigration counsel.
* Coordinate legal guidance and recommendations provided by immigration vendors.
* Review and approve immigration petitions and applications before submission.
* Provide guidance regarding immigration timelines, requirements, business impacts, compliance considerations, and sponsorship decisions.
* Deliver regular immigration status updates, reporting, dashboards, and business reviews to key stakeholders.
* Monitor immigration deadlines and ensure timely case management and filing activities.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
* Develop, document, and maintain immigration workflows, procedures, and standard operating processes.Vendor Management * Manage relationships with immigration vendors and legal service providers.
* Ensure vendor performance meets established service level agreements (SLAs).
* Coordinate audits related to case management, compliance, and data integrity.
* Partner with vendors to maximize utilization of immigration case management systems.
* Prepare and distribute key reporting metrics related to status tracking, renewals, PERM cases, green card processing, and service performance.
Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in U.S. immigration or global mobility.
* Experience working in a large manufacturing environment or immigration law firm preferred.
* Strong ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently.
* Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with employees and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications * Professional proficiency in French, German, or Spanish.
* Experience with immigration case management systems.
