Job description

IIA Fire Department Testing, a leading company in the fire safety industry, is looking for full-time Fire Equipment Technicians to join our team in North Carolina immediately. We provide an essential service testing fire equipment for fire departments at their locations.

This is an entry level position with no previous experience required. All training will be done on site. Starting hourly rate is $15.50/hour. Meals and lodging are covered by the company when traveling out of state. The team meets in Elizabeth City, NC.

Responsibilities

Test and inspect every inch of fire hose by:

  • Removing all hose from fire apparatus and racks
  • Performing required recordings and tests
  • Repacking hoses to the proper place

Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation to work
  • Be able to pass a drug test and background check
  • Hard working and very dependable

Working Conditions

  • Work is Monday-Friday: leave Monday morning and return Friday evening with the majority of work being out of state.
  • Meet at a central location on Monday morning and travel in company vehicles. Drop off Friday evening at same location.
  • Meals and lodging covered by the company when traveling out of state.
  • Typical week consists of 40-60 hours
  • Occasional work day can be 12+ hours
  • Shift is not over until job is completed
  • Work boots required and work shirts supplied by company.
  • Will work in the rain. Appropriate rain gear highly recommended.
  • Work is performed outdoors in weather conditions ranging from 35* to over 100* F and surrounded by water.

Physical Requirements

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently required to walk and bend over.
  • Must be able to work outside is various conditions (light rain, heat, cold, etc.)
