[Talent Pool] Technical Podcast Producer for @UnlearnedWisdom Podcast

Core Of The Heart

Los Angeles, CA • On-site

$65/hr

Contractor

Job description

This is not an active hiring process. We're collecting applications from people we'd want to talk to when a role like this opens. Standouts get held and reviewed against future openings. Applications that don't show real proof of the work get archived. If you're patient and want to be on our radar when the door opens, send us your strongest application.
Our Mission: Bring biblical clarity and daily guidance to people seeking God in a chaotic world.

  • Instagram: @unlearnedwisdom
  • YouTube: @johnnychanglive
  • Instagram: @johnnychanglive

Location: Los Angeles, CA (in-studio Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday every week)
Type: Contract
Department: Content
Your Role
Every recording session is the moment the gospel gets captured. When Johnny sits down and speaks truth into someone's addiction, anxiety, or spiritual confusion, you are the person making sure that moment is technically flawless so nothing gets between the message and the person who needs to hear it. A corrupted file, a missed angle, a bad audio mix doesn't just cost us an episode. It costs someone their encounter with God.
You own the entire production pipeline for the Unlearned Wisdom podcast, from in-studio setup and recording through asset handoff and post-production coordination to final quality sign-off before publish. You are not just a camera operator. You are the technical backbone of everything this podcast produces. You run the studio, manage the post-production workflow, and own the data that tells us what's working and what's not.
What You'll Own
  • Run all in-studio technical production (multi-cam, audio, lighting, livestreaming) for 2-3 recording sessions per week
  • Operate the ATEM Mini Pro ISO and RØDECaster Pro II during all sessions, ensuring every file is captured without error
  • Deliver all footage, timestamped editing notes, and project assets to the post-production team within 10 hours of recording
  • Project manage the full post-production workflow: track editing progress, unblock editors, and ensure every episode hits its release date
  • Own final quality sign-off on all long-form and short-form content before publish (edit quality, caption accuracy, brand alignment)
  • Pull performance data weekly from YouTube Studio and propose at least 1 optimization per month to improve retention or engagement

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
Objective 1: Zero technical failures
  • 0 instances of lost footage, corrupted audio, or technical errors due to setup or operational mistakes across all recording sessions
  • 100% of assets organized and delivered to post-production within 10 hours of recording, every session

Objective 2: Own the post-production pipeline
  • 100% of episodes published on schedule with no missed release dates
  • Establish a documented production checklist (pre-shoot, recording, handoff, QC) reviewed and approved by the team by Day 30

This Role Is NOT For You If:
  • You have never produced a video podcast from setup through publish. Studio camera work, live event production, or film production does not qualify. Do not apply.
  • You can't troubleshoot technical problems calmly under pressure. If a camera goes down mid-record and you freeze, this isn't the role.
  • You see production as your only job. This role includes post-production project management and performance analysis. If you only want to be in the studio, it's not the right fit.
  • You've never used YouTube analytics to inform a production decision. We need a producer who thinks about what the data says, not just what looks good on set.
  • You need to be managed daily. This is a high-autonomy role with firm deadlines.

Non-Negotiable Requirements
  • Must be based in Los Angeles
  • Available in-studio every Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, every single week. No exceptions.
  • 3+ years producing video podcasts with verifiable proof (not adjacent production work, not corporate video, not event videography)
  • Hands-on experience operating multi-cam setups with Sony A7siii (or similar), ATEM Mini Pro ISO, and RØDECaster Pro II
  • Proven experience running multi-cam livestreams with a live digital audience
  • Experience with YouTube Studio analytics and content performance optimization
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere, ClickUp (or similar PM tools), Google Drive, and AI tools
  • Must provide a portfolio showing podcast episodes you produced with verifiable performance data.

Compensation
$65/hour during a 2-month trial period. Sessions are 2-4 hours, 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Saturday). After the trial, if we decide to move forward, monthly retainer of $4,500/month.
How to Apply
  1. Resume
  2. Portfolio with proof of results. Links to podcast episodes you produced with verifiable view counts, retention data, or growth metrics. Show us what you built, not just what you worked on.
  3. Loom video (under 3 minutes)

Our Core Values
  1. Keep God First - We focus on the gospel and how it can impact peoples' lives.
  2. Radical Accountability - We own outcomes, not intentions. You come with solutions, not problems.
  3. Move with Urgency & Discipline - We act quickly on the most impactful tasks for the business. You're not scared to make calculated decisions with incomplete information.
  4. Committed to Systems & Processes - We build systems so excellence doesn't depend on individuals. We build for scale.
  5. Embody Grace For Each Other - Always speak honestly and openly address issues, but remember that everything comes through grace.
