Job description

Compounding Pharmacy Technician Job Duties:
Assist the pharmacists in the performance of technical functions and supports professional functions in the provision of pharmaceutical services to patients, staff, and physicians. The technician works under the supervision of the Pharmacist-on-duty.
  • Prepares Parenteral products: IV, IVPB's, and TPN solutions according to policies and procedures, and organizational compliance with USP 797, USP 800, and USP 795 through completion of ongoing competencies and compounding documentation.
  • Processes printed medication orders and stocks medication requests as needed. Processes ambulance trays and code cart trays.
  • Answers telephone calls and responds in the customer service window.
  • Replaces returned medication to appropriate storage areas.
  • Monitors par levels, reorders, and restocks controlled substances when needed.
  • Acts as a resource for fundamental pharmacy technicians.
  • Directly participates in new pharmacy technician training

Compounding Pharmacy Technician Minimum Requirements:
  • Entry Level
  • High School or Equivalent (GED)
  • Wisconsin pharmacy technician license is required.
  • Certification as a pharmacy technician within 12 months is recommended, but not required.
  • Must have knowledge of pharmacy. Must exhibit a working knowledge of drug names, doses, strengths, and formulations.
  • Must successfully complete Pharmacy Technician competency programs through on-the-job exposure.

Salary Range: $16.00 to $23.00/hr (based on experience)
