Position Summary

Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children

Providing compassionate care to the children, teenagers and young adults of Central Florida for more than 30 years, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is located on the downtown Orlando campus and includes 156 licensed beds for specialized care for children as well as the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, offering trauma care for children as the pediatric site of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center. State-of-the-art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The hospital also has earned national recognition for 12 consecutive years as a “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report and was included, together with Orlando Health ORMC, in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021.

Arnold Palmer Hospital is seeking for Pharmacy Support Assistant to assist with putting away newly acquired inventory.  Candidates in this position will also be enrolled in the PSA to Pharmacy Technician program.

This position will support both Arnold Palmer Hospital and Winnie Palmer Hospital

Shift: Varies - VFT


Responsibilities
  • Pre-packs any bulk items into unit dose, and maintaining pre-packing area clean and organized.
  • Assists with daily inventory of all medication and supplies as assigned.
  • Assists with filling any unit stock requisition.
  • Monitors all inventory for outdated material.
  • Keeps patient cassettes and medications storage bins clean.
  • Keeps compounding equipment clean and organized such that area is compliant with Chapter 795 standards.
  • Keeps IV Room clean, organized and stocked such that it is compliant with Chapter 797 standards.
  • Transports all medications and IVs including controlled substances and chemotherapy to all nursing units, other departments and outpatient clinics in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Performs Unit Inspections in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Performs medication refrigerator/freezer temperature monitoring as assigned.
  • Understands safety, emergency and risk management procedures.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the basic computer system related to the position.
  • Operates the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations and policy and procedures.
