Automation Engineer - Supply Chain
We are seeking a highly motivated Automation Engineer to be part of our Supply Chain Automation & Transformation team. The Automation Engineer will drive productivity and efficiency improvements across our distribution network by supporting the design and deployment of new Automation systems and ensuring our existing Automation systems are operating at their optimal performance levels.
Main responsibilities:
  • The position reports to an Automation Sr. Manager.
  • On new Automation projects, support the development of the Business Case to obtain project approval. This includes supporting the creation of the Automation system design requirements through data analysis/modeling and participating in the development of the Automation system concept.
  • On new Automation projects, develop and monitor critical KPI's in concert with DC Operations. This includes providing DC Operations with the necessary tools to optimize system performance.
  • On existing Automation systems throughout the DC network, lead audits/continuous improvement programs to identify
    opportunities for improving productivity and efficiency including identifying areas of improvement and the work with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
  • On Proof of Concept (POC) projects - Participate in the evaluation of new technology including developing test plans and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that automation solutions are optimized for business requirements, such as product flow, inventory control, and order picking.
  • Communicate progress and status of the Automation projects to the Automation and Operational Leadership teams.
    Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers including managing supplier performance to the contractual specifications on both new and existing Automation projects.

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • This is an entry level role. Internship or Co-op experience with warehouse operations, and warehouse automation systems is preferred.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges. Project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both non-technical and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and improve processes in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel for conducting in-depth modeling, data analysis and creating impactful visualizations; familiarity with SQL or similar database systems is advantageous.
  • AutoCAD proficiency for reviewing/modifying supplier drawings of automation systems.
  • While this role will support projects across the entire distribution network, the position will be a four (4) day/week in office position at our Lancaster DC located in Denver, PA. • Travel will be required for the role ~ 25% annually (variable, depending on project needs)
