Key Responsibilities:

• Technical - 60%o Gross description and dissection of whole prostate specimens, prostate mapping biopsy specimens.o CMOCO only biopsy tissue samples.o Reprocessing of FFPI tissue samples for Electron Microscopy.o Paraffin Embedding of large format and biopsy tissue samples.o Microtomy sectioning of tissue samples.o Staining and cover slipping of tissue samples

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in biological science, nutrition, nursing, health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

• Histotechnician or Histotechnologist Certification (HT, HTL, ASCP), or eligible for certification. If eligible, but uncertified, certification must be obtained within 2 year of hire date.Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Please be advised that this position is not eligible now or in the future for visa sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications:

• Immunohistochemistry Certification (QIHC, ASCP).

• Experience using laboratory equipment such as complex machinery and staining systems.

• Experience calculating lab results and data using math and analytical skills.

• Experience with developing reports, spreadsheets and databases using Microsoft Office software.

• Experience entering data into an electronic information system.

• Experience purchasing and maintaining lab supplies.

• Experience cleaning and maintaining laboratories and lab equipment.

The Department of Pathology is excited to recruit a full-time (1.0 FTE) entry-level Histotechnologist at the rank of Healthcare Entry Professional. The entry-level histotechnologist will process whole mount prostate, prostate mapping biopsies, and other types of specimens received in the Histology Subspeciality Laboratory. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Administrative - 20%o Manual tracking of patient tissue samples.o Maintenance of supply inventory.

• Compliance and operational - 20%o Cleaning and organization of workstationso Disposal of biological waste.o Changing solutions in tissue processors.o Adherence to all operational maintenance requirements.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
