TITLE: Assistant Child Nutrition Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of school nutrition program experience.
  2. Knowledge and experience in areas such as institutional food service operations, management, business, and/or nutrition education.
  3. Strong math and computer skills. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and data bases.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Possess a current Serve Safe Certification and Food Handlers Card.
  6. Ability to effectively market the child nutrition program to students, staff and community.
  7. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and employees.
  8. Ability to work with staff, students and public.
  9. Willingness to try new ideas.
  10. Excellent organizational skills.
  11. Physically able to perform assigned duties.

REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Supervisor
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Reading Indicator and Idaho Standards Achievement Test.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain accounting procedures in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules and Idaho Falls District 91 School Board Policy.
  2. Aid in coordinating the audit of child nutrition accounts with the board's auditor.
  3. Assist in overseeing the purchasing and maintaining inventory of all foods, supplies and equipment.
  4. Assist with the ordering, storage and distribution of government commodities.
  5. Check all bills and purchase orders for accuracy before presenting them to the Business Department for payment.
  6. Process records and reports required under federal and state law, administrative rules, and Idaho Falls School District 91 Board Policy as assigned by the Child Nutrition Supervisor.
  7. Assist in the development of policy relevant to the food services program.
  8. Assist in the implementation of efficient management techniques to ensure all record and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with local, state and federal laws and policies.
  9. Develop and maintain effective communication with parents, students and the community.
  10. Ensure CNP compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations and policies.
  11. Provide technical assistance and training for school foodservice personnel, school administrators and other school support staff.
  12. Develop a marketing plan to attract students, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff and community members.
  13. Conduct an ongoing evaluation of the marketing plan.
  14. Communicate program information to encourage and secure support for the school food and nutrition program from the Board of Trustees, administrators, faculty, students, parents and community members.
  15. Assist with the hiring and evaluation of child nutrition staff as requested.
  16. Check all government reimbursements and commercial rebates for timeliness and accuracy.
  17. Collect, compile and utilize appropriate operational data to maximize efficiency, productivity and effectiveness of the child nutrition program.
  18. Keep abreast of new products and school food service related information.
  19. Maintain extra professional affiliations as is pertinent.
  20. Visit all lunchrooms and cafeterias to ensure that high standards of health, sanitation and safety are being maintained. Provide positive feedback and/or recommendations to improve operations.
  21. Attend conferences and classes to help complete the required continuing education/annual training standards each year.
  22. Assist with all aspects of the child nutrition program as requested.
  23. Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  24. Has regular and predictable attendance.
  25. Process and take daily deposit to bank as needed.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Perform all other duties assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is scheduled for 8 hours a day on a 229 day calendar. The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the classified employee's salary schedule grade 10-12 $22.55-$26.39 commensurate with years of experience and education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Child Nutrition in accordance with board policy.
