What are entry level new grad jobs?

Entry level new grad jobs are positions specifically designed for recent graduates who have little to no professional work experience in their chosen field. These roles typically provide on-the-job training and mentorship to help new grads transition from an academic environment to the workforce. Employers offering these positions often seek candidates with relevant degrees, a willingness to learn, and foundational skills rather than extensive experience. Entry level new grad jobs are available in a wide variety of industries, including business, engineering, healthcare, and technology.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level New Grad, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level New Grad, you generally need a relevant academic degree, foundational knowledge in your field, and a willingness to learn new concepts quickly. Familiarity with industry-standard tools, software, or platforms—such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or specific programs related to your discipline—is often expected. Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills help you stand out as you transition from academia to a professional environment. These skills are important because they enable you to contribute effectively, learn from colleagues, and grow within your first professional role.

What kinds of mentorship or training can Entry Level New Grads typically expect when starting their first professional role?

Entry Level New Grads are often supported through structured onboarding programs, mentorship from experienced colleagues, and ongoing training sessions to help bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world work. Many organizations assign new grads a mentor or buddy to guide them through the company culture, answer questions, and provide feedback on their progress. This support helps new employees build confidence, develop professional skills, and quickly become productive members of the team. Participating in these programs also offers great opportunities for networking and career development within the company.

This is a chance to join a growing team, learn quickly, and help shape solutions that will influence how we operate for years to come. If you're looking for a place where you can grow, contribute, and see the results of your work, we'd love to meet you.

Authorization

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future.

Location

  • This is a hybrid role based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of working in the office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week.
  • Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to the Austin area. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

In this role

  • Design, build and maintain integrations and automated workflows that connect enterprise systems (ERP, WMS, CRM, eCommerce) and eliminate manual handoffs
  • Build and support data pipelines and ETL processes that move, transform and validate data across systems ensuring the data quality and consistency that AI and analytics depend on
  • Develop and maintain APIs, webhooks and event-driven automations with strong error handling, logging and monitoring so issues surface quickly
  • Write clean, testable scripts and services in Python, C#, or JavaScript to automate repetitive business processes and reporting
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to identify automation opportunities, gather requirements and translate them into working solutions
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment practices and documentation that keep our growing automation footprint reliable and maintainable
  • Help evaluate and implement cloud services and tools (Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Data Factory, Service Bus) that form the building blocks for future AI capabilities
  • Other duties as assigned, in accordance with training and qualifications
    • Uphold our core values and be a valuable member of the Four Hands team:
      • Be open and honest
      • Reach for excellence
      • Act with responsibility
      • Value the whole person
      • Enjoy the journey

The ideal person

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Foundational programming skills in at least one language (Python strongly preferred; C#, Java, or JavaScript also welcome)
  • Basic understanding of APIs, JSON/XML, and how web services communicate (REST, HTTP, webhooks)
  • Exposure to SQL and relational databases; comfortable writing queries, understanding schemas and thinking about data quality
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and a willingness to learn CI/CD and DevOps practices
  • A problem-solver and self-starter who is curious about how systems work, excited to automate what's manual and comfortable learning new tools quickly
  • Strong communication skills: able to talk with both technical and non-technical teammates about requirements, trade-offs and progress
