What are entry level new grad jobs?

Entry level new grad jobs are positions specifically designed for recent graduates who have little to no professional work experience in their chosen field. These roles typically provide on-the-job training and mentorship to help new grads transition from an academic environment to the workforce. Employers offering these positions often seek candidates with relevant degrees, a willingness to learn, and foundational skills rather than extensive experience. Entry level new grad jobs are available in a wide variety of industries, including business, engineering, healthcare, and technology.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level New Grad, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level New Grad, you generally need a relevant academic degree, foundational knowledge in your field, and a willingness to learn new concepts quickly. Familiarity with industry-standard tools, software, or platforms—such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or specific programs related to your discipline—is often expected. Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills help you stand out as you transition from academia to a professional environment. These skills are important because they enable you to contribute effectively, learn from colleagues, and grow within your first professional role.

What kinds of mentorship or training can Entry Level New Grads typically expect when starting their first professional role?

Entry Level New Grads are often supported through structured onboarding programs, mentorship from experienced colleagues, and ongoing training sessions to help bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world work. Many organizations assign new grads a mentor or buddy to guide them through the company culture, answer questions, and provide feedback on their progress. This support helps new employees build confidence, develop professional skills, and quickly become productive members of the team. Participating in these programs also offers great opportunities for networking and career development within the company.

Our extensive list of well-known Florida roads, shopping centers, schools, hospitals, residential communities, resorts, and commercial developments coupled with municipal utilities for water supply/distribution and wastewater collection/treatment show our continued dedication to responsibly develop and improve Florida's communities.

You will gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects including power distribution systems, instrumentation, control systems, industrial networks, telemetry, lighting, and generator systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to build a strong technical foundation and progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Your Responsibilities as an Electrical Engineer:

  • Assist in the design of electrical equipment, power distribution, and control systems, including exposure to PLCs, wiring schematics, and industrial network architecture.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations including load calculations, conductor sizing, and assist with transformer sizing and single-line diagrams.
  • Develop NEC-compliant construction drawings for service upgrades and system improvements.
  • Contribute to electrical design efforts for municipal infrastructure projects such as lift stations and irrigation systems, ensuring compliance with NEC and client standards.
  • Assist with construction phase services, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to contractor RFIs.
  • Support field activities such as site visits, inspections, and commissioning/startup of electrical systems.
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members and contribute to technical reports and project documentation.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to learning industry standards, including the National Electric Code (NEC).

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.

  • Internship or co-op experience in electrical design, utilities, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to perform occasional fieldwork and travel to project sites as needed.

  • Sponsorship not available now or in the future.

Why you'll love working for us:

  • Company-subsidized medical and dental.
  • Company-paid life, short, and long-term disability.
  • 401k match, tuition assistance, and more.
  • Cross-training and the ability to work on a variety of projects.
  • Performance-based bonuses or other incentives.
  • Working with the best and brightest in the industry.
  • 2,000+ employee national firm with 70+ locations across the US.
