Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for an Entry Level Tool Maker. You must be able to read blueprints and operate all machines required to manufacture cold heading production tooling. You are responsible for manufacturing, assembly, component replacement and preventative maintenance for cold header tooling. You will work with cold header operators, engineering and production to support lead time requirements.

Job duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machine tools such as conventional mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, saws, and hones to fabricate dies and precision parts

  • Read interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD/CAM models to understand specifications and tolerances

  • Measure and verify dimensions using precision instruments like micrometers, calipers, and gauge blocks

  • Assemble, adjust, and test completed dies or tooling to confirm they meet quality and performance standards

  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area

  • Assist in tooling development by creating rough sketches or fabricating hardware based on engineering input

  • Coordinate with engineers and designers to troubleshoot issues and suggest design improvements

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of toolroom

  • Perform other duties as necessary

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Preferred 1-2 years of related machining experience, apprenticeship, or internship in a manufacturing or tool and die environment. *Willing to train right individual*
  • Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools, blueprint reading, and understanding of tolerances
  • Soft skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, ability to work independently or in a team, and adaptability to changing priorities
