Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a SXEW Technician 1, you will be working on the Processing Operations SX/EW team to perform general laborer duties while developing the skills required to advance into a SXEW Tech 2/SXEW Tech 3 Operator.

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and Capstone’s Values in Action.
  • Perform general labor duties, including but not limited to:
  • Vehicle inspections and basic upkeep.
  • Cleaning and organizing equipment and facilities.
  • Forklift Operations.
  • Tool Safety.
  • Area Inspections.
  • Awareness of Equipment Startup Alarms.
  • Lifting Techniques.
  • Confined Space.
  • Lock Out-Tag Out-Test Out (LOTOTO)
  • Equipment Safety Devices.
  • Load Securement.
  • Identification of Electrical Components.
  • Identification of Mechanical Components.
  • Train employees as needed.
  • Actively participate in line-out and safety meetings, contributing to safety discussions and operational efficiency.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
  • Position requires a substantial amount of physical work.
  • Work environment is in a SX-EW Tankhouse. Contact with hazardous materials is possible.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Entry-level position - no previous mining work experience is required.
  • Ability to safely perform job duties and interest in learning the Solvent Extraction process.
  • Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • May be required to wear a half-face respirator. Will need to be willing to be clean shaven.

Preferred

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Previous experience performing related work in a safety-sensitive environment.
  • Previous experience operating a Forklift.

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
