What You’ll Do:

As a Coding Specialist, you'll be the crucial link between clinical, financial, and IT teams. Your expertise will help maintain the highest standards for charge capture across all clinical services, ensuring accurate and timely charge entry. You’ll provide invaluable support to various clinical departments, leading training, identifying issues, and delivering actionable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical Coding:
    • Code inpatient, outpatient surgery, and observation visits accurately using ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems.
  • Training:
    • Assist in training new coding technicians, providing guidance and support where needed.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure coding meets regulatory requirements and health system standards.
  • Guest Relations:
    • Promote and adhere to the Health System's guest relations policy, maintaining professionalism and respect in all interactions.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Formalized education and training through an accredited coding program is mandatory.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of inpatient coding experience required.

Certifications:

  • Must possess one of the following certifications:
    • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
    • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of 3M Encoding and Grouping software.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to coding.
