This Manufacturing Engineer II will be responsible for safely performing work specific to detailed parts manufacturing and assembly operations of polyurethane materials. The manufacturing areas will include specialized polyurethane processing, bonding/assembling hardware, painting, finishing, and machining support. Additionally, this role will serve to document and convert Standard Work for ongoing production efforts and support facility lift operations for both small and large part assemblies. Overall, candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to learn and create urethane processes, operate urethane processors, implement production methods, and support their cell production team to safely meet all Quality and On-Time Delivery (OTD) requirements.
What You Will Do:
  • Independently plan and support the design and development of advanced polyurethane products in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Design polyurethane molds, processes, and documentation to produce products that meet customer specifications.
  • Ensure products meet or exceed applicable company and customer requirements for performance, reliability, cost, producibility, and serviceability.
    Work with floor supervisors to achieve schedule and address technical issues as they arise.
  • Participate in defining engineering approaches, planning, and scheduling work.
  • Deal with technical problems of high to moderate scope with minimal supervision, provide guidance with support from program technical manager.
  • Work closely with Operations, Quality, EH&S, etc. to create a safe, efficient work environment.
  • Interface/train with shop floor personnel.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials, Production and Labor Routers.
  • Create and support compliant Lift Plans, perform lift evolutions weekly.
  • Create and submit Lab Service Requests (LSRs). Maintain traceability of material lot numbers, serial numbers, customer-furnished equipment, test results, etc.
  • Work with all levels within the organization and support Tier Meetings.
  • Estimate and meet project schedule and costs.
  • Write/amend process documentation that is understandable for those with limited technical background (Standard Work, Manufacturing Instructions, Travel Cards,
  • Production Authorizations (PAs), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), etc.)
  • Perform various risk assessments and develop processes that comply with Collins standards regarding Environmental Health and Safety, including ergonomics and Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Must understand fundamentals of Root Cause Analysis, Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing/CORE).
  • Travel 10% as needed.

  • Experience working in a Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials role or project.
  • Experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Ability to obtain DOD security clearance.
  • Experience in Production/Manufacturing environment, specifically polyurethane materials and processes.
  • Entry level experience with digitalized work cells and factory automation a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems (SAP a plus).
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g. Solid Works or Catia).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of an integrated product team.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
