Job description

IT Support Technician

Mount Mercy University is seeking a customer-focused IT Support Technician to provide frontline technology support for faculty, staff, and students. This role serves as the first point of contact for technical issues and helps maintain a positive technology experience across campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 support for computers, printers, classroom technology, and software.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, account access, and password issues.
  • Document and manage requests through the IT ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate IT staff.
  • Assist with setup, maintenance, and support of university technology.
  • Deliver support in person, by phone, and remotely.
  • Collaborate with IT team members and contribute to process improvements.
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 2+ years of related IT support experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting Windows and macOS environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and common desktop technologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Dell certification or similar technical certifications.
  • Experience with remote support tools, AV/classroom technology, and account management systems.
