Job Description

You’ll join a company that’s pioneering the collaborative superstar: Integrative Project Delivery (IPD) in Canada, with projects that truly move the needle on collaboration and innovation in construction.

As an Estimator 1, you aren't just crunching numbers - you are building the foundation of our technical projects. In this entry-level role, you will provide critical support to the estimating team by ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of full-cost estimates for both materials and labor. Your work directly impacts the profitability and success of our builds, requiring a blend of analytical precision, a proactive mindset, and exceptional teamwork.

Project sectors: Municipal (wastewater, bridges)

  • Project Analysis & Takeoffs: Review proposal specifications and drawings to accurately determine the scope of work. Perform detailed, complete takeoffs to ensure every project component is accounted for.
  • Cost Estimation: Assist and coordinate the preparation of full-cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, and general tender work. As you grow, you will also take the lead in preparing cost estimates for various smaller projects.
  • Market Intelligence & Data Management: Maintain and update working documents, pricing databases, and active lists of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. Keep pricing accurate and current through direct contact with the market and suppliers.
  • Cost Analysis: Assist in establishing unit costs, labor rates, productivity factors, and location-specific impacts.
  • Client & Team Collaboration: Attend review meetings with clients, support the preparation of professional presentations for management, and act as a versatile resource for the wider estimating team.
  • Quality Assurance & Handover: Participate in the review of final estimate packages to guarantee absolute accuracy and completeness. Contribute to project closeouts by abstracting necessary information to aid in the operational handover process.
Qualifications

MINIMUM requirements:

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in estimating or project coordination - this includes relevant internship or co-op placements with a General Contractor.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and a strong aptitude for learning new estimating software.
