Job description

Traveling Sanitary Pipe/Orbital Welder 

This position is responsible for the layout, fit-up, fabrication, and welding of stainless-steel sanitary tubing and hygienic process piping systems. 

Robinson Construction is a Design-Build General Contractor specializing in the completion of process-intense manufacturing facilities throughout the United States. Our clients include heavy industrial, manufacturing; food grade processing plants, chemical and processing; power and renewable energy; healthcare facilities, and mining industries, as well as federal, state, and municipal agencies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand.
  • Perform GTAW/TIG welding on stainless steel sanitary tubing and pipe.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain orbital welding equipment for stainless steel and high-purity tubing systems,
  • Prepare tubing and pipe for welding, including cutting, beveling, cleaning, and alignment.
  • Ensure welds meet sanitary and quality standards, including purge requirements and clean weld appearance.
  • Install valves, pumps, fittings, hangers, supports, and process equipment.
  • Conduct visual inspections and verify weld integrity and dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain proper cleanliness and contamination control during fabrication and installation.
  • Operate grinders, beveling tools, band saws, tube cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Selects proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions.
  • Take personal responsibility for fostering a safe workplace by following safety policies and procedures.
  • May perform a variety of duties including those of other positions.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:                                                                                       

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Welding certifications from an accredited school is preferred.
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment GTAW/Tig Stainless Steel Weld test.
  • Industrial machine experience (such as forklift) preferred.
  • Current OSHA 10 or MSHA Certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Coordinate eye-hand movements with control and precision, using hands and fingers fully; reach for, manipulate and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • See and hear well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time.

      OTHER:

      • Travel, Overtime, some holiday, and weekend work may be required.
