In this entry-level position, you will have the opportunity to work in classification, analysis, and reporting of financial data while gaining valuable knowledge and experience. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Within the role of Accountant 1, you will assist in preparing the state budget for CYS and Juvenile Probation expenditures and revenues, as well as provide assistance in the preparation of the county budget and all related financial and revenue reports required by the County Commissioner's and County Controller. This position also assists in the preparation of fiscal forms for the agency's annual plan prepared for the Department of Public Welfare.
Diligent organizational skills are vital, as you will develop fiscal manuals for the agency to reflect all governing regulations for state and federal programs as well as detailed instructions for carrying out the fiscal demands of the agency regarding paperwork related to placements and invoicing of placement costs. You can expect to assist in preparing general ledger reports, trial balances, journal entries and budget modifications.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Fiscal Technician and 15 college credits in accounting; or
  • Five years of bookkeeping experience; and 15 college credits in accounting; or
  • One year of professional accounting experience and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Cambria County. If no eligible candidates who live within Cambria County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
