Position overview
The Software and Applications System Administrator owns the software and application environment across Range USA's 50+ location operation. This role manages the full lifecycle of enterprise software and endpoint configuration - from deployment and licensing through compliance and decommission - and serves as the primary escalation point for software and application issues across the company. It is a hands-on, self-directed role that requires strong technical ownership, rigorous documentation habits, and the ability to operate effectively across a distributed retail environment with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities
  • Administers and maintains the Microsoft 365 tenant, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, license assignment, and governance configuration
  • Owns endpoint configuration and software deployment across Windows and iOS devices company-wide via MDM platforms, including device compliance policies, configuration profiles, patch management, and update rings
  • Manages the enterprise software license inventory - procurement, renewals, utilization tracking, and compliance
  • Administers user provisioning and deprovisioning across platforms, including role-based access control, SSO, and MFA via Entra ID
  • Experience with Chrome Browser Cloud Management or similar browser fleet management
  • Leads new store technology setup and configuration; requires on-site travel for new store openings (approximately 3 per year, 4 days on-site per opening)
  • Develops and maintains PowerShell scripts and automated workflows to reduce manual administrative overhead
  • Resolves help desk escalations related to software, application access, and device configuration
  • Owns resolution of complex software and application issues, including root cause analysis and documentation of findings
  • Evaluates and recommends software solutions that improve productivity or reduce cost, and leads testing and implementation
  • Maintains accurate system documentation and SOPs - this role generates significant institutional knowledge that must be captured and maintained
  • Trains staff on new software through in-person sessions, written documentation, and recorded walkthroughs
  • Communicates system changes and updates to the IT Infrastructure Manager

Desired skills & experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in systems administration, software administration, or IT operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tenant administration
  • Active Directory / Entra ID administration, including user lifecycle, RBAC, SSO, and MFA
  • PowerShell scripting proficiency
  • Experience deploying and managing software at enterprise scale
  • Excellent customer service skills and personable and professional demeanor
  • Strong time management, organization, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong Windows 10/11 troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with ITSM platforms
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, manage competing priorities, and follow through without close supervision
  • Strong documentation habits
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:
  • Microsoft certifications (MD-102, MS-102, AZ-104, or equivalent)
  • Experience with SCCM / Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager alongside Intune
  • Experience with endpoint security tooling including EDR and DLP solutions
