Job description

Responsibilities
Peraton Labs is looking for a highly analytical and detail oriented Junior Electrical Engineer to join our team. This entry-level position is perfect for a recent graduate who thrives on uncovering the intricate workings of electronic devices. You will play a crucial role in meticulously mapping out electrical designs, analyzing communication signals, and quantifying RF characteristics to explain how devices operate. This role demands a curious mind, a meticulous approach, and the ability to synthesize complex technical information into clear, comprehensive reports for our customers.
Responsibilities:
  • Characterize and document electronic systems: Research circuit components, create detailed schematics and perform laboratory environment time and frequency domain tests and measurements to understand circuit functions and device operational purpose.
  • Analyze communication bus protocols: Work with various digital communication protocols like SPI, I2C, and UART to understand data flow within devices.
  • Characterize RF signals: Measure and analyze radio frequency (RF) signals from electronic devices to identify physical layer characteristics such as basic modulation schemes, operating frequencies, occupied bandwidths, transmission power, etc.
  • Decode modulation: Support the analysis and decoding of different RF modulation types to extract data and understand signal encoding.
  • Contribute to technical reports: Integrate device characterization data and analysis summaries into coherent and comprehensive reports and briefings for customers.
  • Research emerging technologies: Stay current with new electronic technologies and analytical techniques.
  • Collaborate with experts: Work alongside skilled engineers and subject matter experts to tackle challenging problems and find solutions.

Qualifications
Required:
  • US citizen with active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field; no postgraduate experience is required
  • Proficiency in interpreting and understanding electronic schematics
  • Solid understanding of electronic components and their functions, with an emphasis on analyzing electronic circuits
  • Hands-on experience using laboratory benchtop equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators, from academic projects or internships
  • A foundational understanding of RF communications
  • Academic or project-based experience with communication bus protocols such as SPI, I2C, and UART
  • Capable of performing basic RF measurements (e.g., occupied bandwidth, average power) using standard test equipment
  • Capable of writing complex technical reports

Desired:
  • ABET BSE in Electrical Engineering
  • Familiarity with IED and/or UXS techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTP)
  • Understanding of programming languages

Target Salary Range
$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
