Job Title: Assistant Athletics Director - Graphic Design & Social Media

Job Summary

This position serves as the Athletic Departments lead creative and social media professional and is responsible for graphic design, visual storytelling, illustration, print production, and digital content development for all 19 sports. The position leads the creation of high-quality, brand-aligned content that enhances the Athletics brand, supports recruiting and fan engagement, and advances departmental and university priorities across print, web, email, and social media platforms.

Job DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead graphic design, visual storytelling, and creative content efforts for the Department of Athletics across all 19 sports, ensuring a consistent and professional brand presence.
  • Create and produce a wide range of digital and print assets, including season graphics packages, recruiting materials, schedule graphics, web ads, email graphics, and other promotional materials.
  • Develop and maintain the visual identity of Athletics across the website, official social media channels, digital campaigns, and external communications.
  • Collaborate with coaches, communications staff, marketing staff, and other athletics personnel to create content that supports recruiting, brand growth, fan engagement, and sport-specific priorities.
  • Manage the full design production process, including project timelines, art direction, photography coordination, print production, proofing, vendor communication, and related production tasks.
  • Partner with creative video and external operations staff on video board assets, animation elements, motion graphics, and other multimedia needs.
  • Provide guidance and daily oversight to student workers and other support personnel assisting with graphic design and social media content production.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and remain current on emerging trends and best practices in design, branding, and digital media.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsEducation

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, Fine Arts, Digital Media, Interdisciplinary Studies, or a related field.

Experience

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in graphic design, creative services, athletics communications, marketing, social media, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in collegiate athletics, professional sports, higher education, or a similarly fast-paced environment.

Experience developing creative assets and social media content for multiple teams, brands, or audiences simultaneously.

Demonstrated experience leading creative projects from concept through final production.

Experience supervising student workers, interns, or entry-level creative staff.

Illustration, animation, motion graphics, photography, and/or videography experience.

Familiarity with NCAA, conference, and university policies related to athletics communications, recruiting, and branding.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of graphic design, branding, visual communications, typography, layout, and creative production workflows.

Knowledge of social media content design, digital storytelling, print production, and reproduction processes.

Ability to create compelling visual content across a wide range of media and platforms.

Ability to translate statistics and technical information into clear, engaging graphics.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain brand consistency, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and After Effects, as well as Microsoft Office.

Ability to work outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
