How much do entry level copper brazing jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 10, 2026, the average hourly pay for entry level copper brazing in the United States is $20.65, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $17.31 and $24.04 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Can you join copper and steel by brazing?

In entry level copper brazing, joining copper and steel by brazing is possible using appropriate filler metals designed for dissimilar metals. The process requires proper cleaning, flux application, and controlled heating to ensure a strong bond, but it can be challenging due to differences in melting points and thermal expansion. Skilled brazers often use specific alloys and techniques to achieve reliable joints between copper and steel.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Entry level copper brazing jobs typically do not pay $4,000 a week; such high wages are more common in specialized trades or management roles. Skilled trades like welding, pipefitting, or industrial maintenance can reach that level with experience and certifications, often working in manufacturing or construction environments. These jobs usually require technical training but not necessarily a college degree.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Copper Brazing Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Copper Brazing Technician, you need manual dexterity, basic mechanical aptitude, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with brazing torches, hand tools, and safety equipment, along with knowledge of reading blueprints or technical drawings, is typically required. Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow instructions are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure the quality and safety of brazed joints, minimize errors, and support efficient production processes.

What are entry level copper brazing jobs?

Entry level copper brazing jobs involve joining copper parts together using a filler metal that melts at a lower temperature than the base copper. These positions typically require basic knowledge of brazing techniques, safety procedures, and the use of tools like torches and brazing rods. Entry level workers often assist in preparing materials, cleaning joints, and performing simple brazing tasks under supervision. While prior experience may not be necessary, employers look for good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Training is usually provided on the job to ensure proper technique and safety.

How hard is it to braze copper?

Entry level copper brazing involves heating copper pieces and applying a filler metal to join them, which requires attention to proper temperature control and cleanliness. While it can be learned with practice, it demands precision and safety awareness, especially when working with high temperatures and fluxes.

How much does brazing pay?

Entry level copper brazing technicians typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, depending on experience, location, and industry. Skilled brazers with certifications or specialized tools may earn higher wages, especially in manufacturing or construction environments.

What are some common challenges faced by entry-level copper brazers, and how can they be overcome?

Entry-level copper brazers often encounter challenges such as achieving consistent, high-quality joints and understanding the correct temperatures for brazing different copper alloys. New employees may also need time to develop steady hand-eye coordination and learn to properly handle torches and safety equipment. Overcoming these challenges involves hands-on practice, closely following safety protocols, and seeking feedback from experienced team members. Many employers provide on-the-job training and mentorship, which helps new brazers build confidence and refine their techniques over time.

What is the difference between Entry Level Copper Brazing vs Entry Level Welding?

AspectEntry Level Copper BrazingEntry Level Welding
CertificationsBasic metalworking or brazing certifications often preferredWelding certifications such as AWS or equivalent often required
Work EnvironmentManufacturing, HVAC, plumbing settingsConstruction sites, manufacturing, repair shops
Industry UsageHVAC, plumbing, refrigerationConstruction, automotive, manufacturing

Both entry level copper brazing and welding roles involve metal joining skills, but copper brazing focuses on joining copper components using heat and filler materials, often in HVAC and plumbing industries. Welding covers a broader range of metals and applications, requiring more extensive certifications. Understanding these differences helps job seekers choose the right entry point based on their skills and industry interests.
