Job Title: Brazing Machine Operator

Job Description

In this specialized entry-level role, you will perform manual torch brazing primarily on copper-to-copper joints as a critical step in manufacturing high-conductivity power distribution components for electric vehicles and industrial power systems. You will use manual oxygen-fuel torches to create high-strength, leak-proof bonds and ensure the quality and reliability of copper busbars, terminals, and tubes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate hand-held oxygen-fuel torches to heat copper components to the correct temperature for proper alloy flow.
• Apply flux and filler metals, including silver and phosphorus-copper alloys, to create clean, high-conductivity joints between copper plates, terminals, and tubes.
• Clean and degrease copper surfaces prior to brazing to ensure proper bonding and joint integrity.
• Use jigs and fixtures to align parts accurately according to blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Remove flux residue and oxidation after brazing to maintain clean, reliable joints.
• Perform visual inspections of completed joints to verify complete capillary action, proper wetting, and overall bond integrity.
• Follow detailed blueprints and technical drawings to set up workpieces and confirm correct dimensions and alignment.
• Operate and handle hand and power tools safely and efficiently as part of the brazing and preparation process.
• Strictly follow safety protocols related to pressurized gas cylinders, open flames, ventilation, and general shop safety.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and support general labor tasks as needed to keep production running smoothly.

Work Environment

The facility is temperature controlled, clean, and well organized, providing a comfortable and orderly setting for precision brazing work. You will work around running equipment, with a slight level of ambient noise typical of a manufacturing environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
