Entry Level Construction Inspector

With expertise spanning civil/site engineering, environmental permitting, transportation infrastructure, construction management, and advanced surveying technologies, we are committed to delivering high-quality, timely solutions to local, state, and federal clients.
We are seeking fresh engineering graduates to support transportation and infrastructure construction projects across highways, bridges, and airports. The successful candidate will perform field inspection and office engineering duties, including interpreting construction plans and specifications, overseeing materials testing, reviewing documentation, and preparing reports. Experience with NJDOT or NJ Turnpike Authority projects is highly desirable.
This is an on-site position requiring daily field presence. The role involves outdoor work in varying conditions and flexibility to accommodate night shifts and occasional weekend assignments based on project requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Perform field inspections on highway, bridge, airport, and transportation infrastructure construction projects
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards
  • Read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Prepare daily inspection reports, field documentation, and project records
  • Assist with Office Engineer responsibilities, including reviewing construction documentation and coordinating project information
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineers, project managers, contractors, and client agencies
  • Support materials testing, quality assurance, and project closeout documentation as required
  • Work on-site daily, with availability for night shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends based on project schedules

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work outdoors in an active construction environment
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, overtime, and occasional weekends as project needs require

Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship, co-op, or up to two (2) years of experience supporting transportation, highway, bridge, airport, or heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to construction inspection, field engineering, materials testing, or office engineering
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • NJACI (New Jersey ACI Concrete Certification)
  • NJSAT (New Jersey Subsurface Aggregate Technician)
  • NICET Level I, II, or III certification
  • Traffic Control Coordinator (TCC) certification
  • Certified Construction Technologist (CCTC) certification
