Job Title: Information Technology Manager
Reports To: Chief of Staff

Compensation:
  • Pay range: $60,000-$70,000/yr
  • Benefits: For employees contracted for 30 hours per week or more, Thomas MacLaren School pays for 100% of the employee's base insurance premiums (Health, Dental, Vision, Long-term and Short-term disability, Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance, and Life insurance) for the base level coverages. No benefits are provided to employees contracted for less than 30 hours per week.

General Purpose: To manage the implementation and integration of technology across all school departments to ensure a positive experience for staff, students and parents
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure deliverables meet or exceed service-level expectations for quality, timeliness, and budget
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing hardware, software and systems, from servers and network infrastructure to laptops and Chromebooks
  • Perform replacements / upgrades, ensuring that new equipment is fully functional and that users are satisfied
  • Manage IT related security: content filters, firewalls, etc.
  • Manage user accounts, network permissions, email groups, shared calendars
  • Analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems
  • Maintain documentation that will best support future maintenance
  • Maintain documentation of frequently repeated tasks
  • Maintain orderly spaces where technology equipment is used and stored
  • Develop and communicate guidelines for use of school owned equipment (e.g. what additional software may be installed on laptops)
  • Make recommendations for IT training
  • Work with leadership to develop strategic goals, technology initiatives, annual budget and planning for the future
  • Communicate technology related activities in a timely manner
  • Oversee the preparation of all end user equipment for all standardized testing
  • Manage and coordinate with vendors for the management of: printers and copiers, audiovisual equipment, bells, security cameras and phones
  • Plan for future needs:
    • Evaluate and recommend purchases (hardware and software) for new projects and expansion and implement them effectively
    • Recommend vendors for hardware and services
    • Track aging of equipment and schedule maintenance/replacement
    • Track software licenses, users and renewal dates

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Strong understanding and experience setting up, configuring and managing network components
  • Knowledge of MS Office 365 installation and user configuration
  • Experience managing virus and security software at an organizational level
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate with and work well with all levels within an organization, specifically working effectively within the culture
  • Vision and desire help the school streamline the use of technology for maximum effectiveness in keeping with the school's culture
  • Willingness to negotiate with vendors and consultants and manage their services
  • Highly organized and self-managed
  • Excellent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to manage projects with conflicting deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening and questioning skills
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support school events and network

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology
Experience:
  • Experience in IT management, managing systems and projects
  • Experience in managing wired and wireless network topologies and firewalls
  • CompTIA A+, Network +, Security + Certifications preferred
