Come be a part of a great team that give exceptional care to our patients! Missouri Baptist Medical Center has a Clinical Dietitian opening in the Inpatient setting.  A great way to gain experience with a diverse patient population and levels of care.

Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. 

Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The prestigious designation is the highest credential a health care organization can receive for nursing excellence and quality patient care. This recognition has been accomplished by less than nine percent of hospitals nationwide. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital #2 in the St. Louis metro area.

Role Purpose

The registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) works within the interprofessional team and with the patient and family providing medical nutrition therapy (MNT); and conducts nutrition assessment, intervention, education, discharge planning, and care coordination to address prevention and treatment of one or more acute or chronic conditions or diseases. This is an entry level position. This dietitian is focused on meeting basic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies nutrition related problems, determines nutrition diagnosis, prioritizes nutrition intervention and documents plan of care including writing diet orders and educating patient and families on nutrition plan of care.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient/client understanding of the nutrition support therapy prescription. Evaluates evidence that the nutrition intervention/plan of care is influencing a desirable change in the patient/client behavior or status.
  • Reviews best available research/evidence and information for application to practice.
  • Shares current, evidence-based knowledge, information with patients/clients, colleagues, and the public and tailors to the customers needs.
  • Identifies efficient workflow patterns to optimize time management and maximize patient/client care outcomes.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
