Job Description:

The Missile Solutions segment of L3Harris, is seeking a Zeiss Calypso Programmer to join our Precision Measurement Room (PMR) team at our Canoga Park, CA facility. This role will be responsible for planning, prioritizing and developing CMM programs utilizing Calypso based on operational needs to ensure accurate measurements of all hardware on the shop floor. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of ASME Y14.5, Zeiss Calypso software, CMM programming, measurement uncertainty/capability and a background in multiple precision measurement techniques. The candidate will need to use strong GD&T skills to understand complex engineering drawings for a low volume and high complexity manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Programming and Coordination: Develop, test, and implement CMM programs using Zeiss Calypso software to measure complex components and assemblies.
  • Project Management: Communicate with cross functional teams to prioritize and manage deadlines for precision measurement related due dates and tasks
  • Process Development: Support the CMM programming process to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in measurements.
  • Technical Support: Assist inspectors and other individuals at the company with inspection techniques, providing guidance on the advantages and disadvantages of each technique.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze measurement data and generate detailed reports, highlighting any discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of measurement data and inspection reports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to address measurement-related issues and improve overall product quality.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to other team members on the use of Zeiss Calypso software and CMM equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in measurement techniques and CMM programming.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related quality experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0-2 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related quality experience.
  • Valid driver's license; employees who drive on company business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid driver's license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the Company

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Technical Skills:
    • 2+ years hands-on experience using Zeiss Calypso software
    • 2+ years with ASME Y14.5 and interpreting/creating engineerng drawings and specifications
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex measurement data and identify root causes of discrepancies.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to generate clear and concise reports.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and reporting.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact with minimal supervision.
  • Certifications:
    • CMM Certification on Zeiss Calypso
    • Other technologies/inspection instrumentation
  • Structured Light Systems: Experience using structured light machines and performing analysis preferably using the Zeiss Inspection Software.
  • Optical Inspection CMM: Experience with a Zeiss O-Inspect (Optical Inspection) CMM.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing measurement projects and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California,  the salary range for this role is $73,000 - $136,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
