Job description

Purpose:
The Intermediate BI Developer develops and supports solutions that turn data into actionable information, enabling data driven decisions for UPMC. The Intermediate BI Developer creates and maintains reports and dashboards, moving data output from existing static content to interactive visualizations. The Intermediate BI Developer performs analytics within business intelligence tools. This entry level role will focus on the design, development, implementation and maintenance of enterprise BI and reporting platforms.
Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements and translate them into technical requirements, visualization and interactive reports.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation. Document BI solutions, including data models, ETL processes, technical specifications, and end-user documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and debug BI solutions to ensure smooth operations and accurate data.
  • Assist with Dashboard design and architecture and understanding data models to convert raw data to meaningful insights. Make recommendations based on needs / wants.
  • Create and maintain and support all BI solutions (i.e. Data marts, dashboards and views) performance monitoring, measurement, forecast, and ongoing process improvement.
  • Manage tasks and timelines related to assigned work.

Qualifications:
  • Preferred bachelor's degree typically in computer science, mathematics, HIM, analytics, statistics, or relevant associated course work or 3 years equivalent BI work experience
  • Preferred: Experience with BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau.
  • Preferred: Experience with report writing tools such as Microsoft SSRS, Business Objects, Cognos, etc.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data management best practices.
  • Ability to plan and manage simultaneous tasks and projects.
  • High degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, and initiative.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment is a must.
  • Experience working with minimal direction and the keen ability to leverage business sense to guide decision making next slide healthcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, strong interpersonal relationships, excellent planning, communication, documentation, and analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred knowledge of clinical workflow in hospital, ambulatory and post-acute environments.
  • Work with leadership on new project initiatives.
