Job Description

The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring for a full-time Baker 1 within Three Leaf Catering in our campus Hospitality department. The UOES Division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations.

Baker 1

Baker 1 is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in basic baking and pastry preparation under the guidance of senior bakers. This role focuses on developing foundational skills in pastry techniques and kitchen operations while supporting daily bakery production for the Notre Dame Community. The Baker 1 contributes to delivering high-quality food and service through standards of hospitality and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing basic pastry and bakery items such as cookies, muffins, brownies, and cakes using standard recipes.
  • Accurately measure, scale, and mix ingredients, following directions from senior bakers or chefs.
  • Support general bakery operations including mixing, cooking/baking, assembly, setup, decorating, labeling, and proper storage of ingredients and finished products.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and ensure proper use, cleaning, and storage of tools and equipment.
  • Follow and uphold ServSafe kitchen standards and all food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Assist with inventory tasks such as tracking supplies and reporting low stock.
  • Collaborate with the baking team to ensure timely production and high-quality service, especially during peak hours and special events.
  • Uphold standards of hospitality, ensuring all guests receive the highest quality food and service.
Qualifications
  • Prior baking/pastry experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn kitchen safety, hygiene, and food handling standards.
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and event-based shifts.
Additional Information

Pay Rate: $17.50/hr
