Leveraging its strengths in large-scale fleet management, Avis Budget Group has entered a strategic partnership with a leader in self-driving technology to launch and scale a fully autonomous ride-hailing service in Dallas. This initiative reflects our commitment to evolving beyond traditional rental services and advancing modern transportation solutions.
As an EV Technician C, you will enter a foundational, growth-focused role designed to build long-term expertise in electric vehicle systems, safety standards, and emerging automotive technologies. This position is ideal for technicians with basic mechanical experience who are motivated to develop their skills in EV platforms, ADAS technologies, and software-driven diagnostics through hands-on experience and structured training.
In this role, you will support routine maintenance, tire services, basic mechanical repairs, and entry-level diagnostic tasks while working under the guidance of senior technicians and adhering to all OEM and safety standards.
What You'll Do:
Core Automotive Foundations
  • Tire repair and replacement services performed in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Preventive maintenance activities, including replacement of filters, belts, and related service items.
  • Brake system service, including pads and rotors.
  • Replacement of fuses, bulbs, indicator lights, fasteners, and 12V batteries.
  • Support of basic suspension components, such as tie rods.
  • Inspection and replacement support for wheel and related sensors.

EV & Safety Fundamentals
  • Proper use of hand tools and impact tools in a professional shop environment.
  • Participation in Level 1 high-voltage and low-voltage inspections under supervision.
  • Adherence to EV safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out processes and use of required PPE.
  • Assistance with light EV repairs as skill level progresses.

Diagnostics & Technology Exposure
  • Use of software-based diagnostic tools for basic troubleshooting and system checks.
  • Assistance with infotainment and display screen replacements.
  • Support for over-the-air (OTA) software update processes.

ADAS & Advanced Systems Awareness
  • Development of working knowledge of ADAS components, including cameras, radar, and LiDAR.
  • Exposure to ADAS and sensor calibration processes and alignment-related activities.

What We're Looking For:
  • Minimum of 1 year of automotive technician experience
  • Interest in hybrid and/or electric vehicle systems
  • At least one ASE certification (A1-A8) required
  • EV ASE Level 1 and Level 2 certifications required within 6 months of hire
  • ADAS and alignment training in progress preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety standards
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using diagnostic software
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive vehicles
  • Work may occur indoors and outdoors depending on fleet needs
  • This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely
