Job description

Position Summary
The District Attorney's Office is recruiting to fill multiple full-time Assistant District Attorney (ADA) positions in the District Attorney's office for Fond du Lac County, located in Fond du Lac, WI. These are State positions in the unclassified service.
FOND DU LAC COUNTY BACKGROUND
Fond du Lac County is uniquely located within approximately 60 minutes of Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay, and about 2 hours from Chicago. The City of Fond du Lac has a population of approximately 44,000 and the County population is over 100,000. Fond du Lac County has two smaller cities that are quiet and slower-paced, which are also great places to raise a family. The City of Ripon has a fantastic downtown with Ripon College and many great restaurants, with a brewery and a winery nearby. The historic City of Waupun sits less than 45 minutes from the Capitol Square and boasts a brewery, and a diversity of local shops.
Fond du Lac has many great trails for running, biking, or walking the dog, and sits on beautiful Lake Winnebago, the largest inland lake in Wisconsin. The county offers many other lakes, providing great opportunities to be on the water and recreation. In addition to the recreational opportunities in the county, the location makes recreational options outside the county easily
LOCAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM BACKGROUND
The office currently has 11 attorneys, which will expand to 15 attorneys in October, yielding an office with significant prosecutorial resources and manageable caseloads. The District Attorney and Deputy District Attorney have combined over 25 years of District Attorney Office management experience. Both new and experienced attorneys joining the office will find an environment where they may thrive and grow as a member of a cohesive professionally-led team.
The Office structure is designed to offer both entry level and advanced prosecution positions including Criminal Traffic and OWI, Sexual Assault/Child Abuse/Domestic Violence, Drug Delivery/Criminal Organizations and General Prosecution/Street Crime. Upon the demonstration of sufficient experience and success, attorneys will have the opportunity to assist the families of Homicide victims within these areas of expertise. Additionally, a Financial/White Collar crime position is planned to be developed in the coming months.
Salary Information
The starting salary for the position will be $80,267 annually ($38.59 per hour).
Job Details
Attorneys who are currently employed by the State of Wisconsin are invited to apply and may be able to transfer at their current pay rate. Attorneys who have left the position of Wisconsin elected District Attorney or Assistant District Attorney within the last five years may be able to be hired at a wage rate above the minimum.
Qualifications
Only attorneys who have been admitted to practice law in the State of Wisconsin may be hired.
