Department: Consulting

Location: Phoenix, AZ Hybrid

Exempt Status: Exempt

Position purpose

The Assistant Project Managers primary job duties include consulting with other staff and/or our clients regarding all phases of a construction project, including planning, pre-design, design, construction and post construction. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible to provide the highest quality professional service within the established budgets.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks


  • Assist Abacus Project Managers, Estimators, Coordinators, and/or Directors in their daily tasks.

  • Review and analyze data pertaining to design consultants, develop conclusions and recommendations and present to Abacus Project Manager and/or client

  • Review and analyze data and (if applicable) bid information regarding contractors on behalf of client and make recommendations regarding same based upon cost and quality of work

  • Provide cost estimating services as necessary (independently or as part of complete project)

  • Consult with client regarding quality and/or cost of subcontractors the general contractor is considering and make recommendations regarding best approach and/or bid

Qualifications


  • Technical education and/or experience in at least some relative disciplines, project areas, including, but not limited to implementing the various phases of a project; planning, pre-design, design, construction, and post construction

  • Prefer some work experience, prefer working experience in the construction industry

  • Bachelors degree or the equivalent in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field

Preferences


  • Experience and/or education with technical knowledge of buildings and management systems for building projects

  • Membership and/or certification such as Construction Management Association, Project Management Institute, American Association of Cost Estimators, etc.
