Job description

Job Title: Functional Application Architect - Consumption Billing & Entitlement Transformation (Salesforce Ecosystem)
Role Definition
The Functional Application Architect for Consumption Billing & Entitlement Transformation serves as the functional lead responsible for enabling new product launches on modern, usage-based billing platforms and driving the transition from legacy entitlement systems to Trimble's Entitlement Management System (EMS).
This role translates high-level product, pricing, and entitlement strategies into detailed, executable application architectures spanning CRM, billing, and entitlement platforms. The architect ensures seamless integration across systems, enabling scalable monetization models, accurate entitlement enforcement, and an optimized customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Application Design & Architecture
  • Own and manage end-to-end functional design for consumption-based billing solutions leveraging Metronome integrated with Salesforce CRM and downstream systems.
  • Translate product, pricing, and monetization strategies into detailed functional architectures for billing and entitlement systems.
  • Design scalable models for usage-based pricing, metering, rating, and billing workflows.
  • Define entitlement frameworks supporting named-user and concurrent-user licensing models within Trimble's Entitlement Management System (EMS).
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, scalability, and performance requirements.
Product Launch Enablement
  • Partner with Product, Finance, and GTM teams to onboard new products into consumption-based billing models.
  • Define product catalog structures, pricing configurations, usage metrics, and billing rules.
  • Ensure readiness across systems for product launch, including CRM, billing, and entitlement provisioning.
  • Support go-to-market timelines with clear functional requirements and execution plans.
Entitlement Transformation & Migration
  • Lead the transition from legacy entitlement systems to Trimble's EMS platform.
  • Define migration strategies, data mapping, and transformation rules for entitlements.
  • Ensure continuity of customer access, licensing, and provisioning during migration.
  • Standardize entitlement models and promote adoption of EMS capabilities across business units.
Requirements Translation & Delivery Support
  • Convert epics and business requirements into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Engineering, and Delivery Teams to ensure accurate implementation.
  • Support sprint planning and backlog grooming and provide ongoing functional clarifications.
  • Utilize tools such as Jira and Confluence for requirements management and documentation.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Act as the primary functional interface between Product, Finance, Engineering, and Operations teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and development teams across multiple time zones.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment across CRM, billing, entitlement, and provisioning systems.
  • Drive clarity on complex monetization and entitlement scenarios.
Data & Integration Oversight
  • Define and govern data flows across Salesforce CRM, billing platforms, and EMS.
  • Oversee integrations for usage ingestion, billing events, entitlement provisioning, and access control.
  • Ensure data accuracy, reconciliation, and auditability across systems.
  • Partner with integration teams on API-based, event-driven, and batch processing patterns.
Production Support & Optimization
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 production support for billing and entitlement systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to usage metering, billing discrepancies, and entitlement provisioning.
  • Continuously optimize billing accuracy, entitlement performance, and system scalability.
  • Monitor system health, usage patterns, and business KPIs.
Governance & Best Practices
  • Establish and enforce best practices for consumption-based billing and entitlement management.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, financial controls, and audit requirements.
  • Drive documentation, knowledge management, and reusable design frameworks.
  • Promote standardization across monetization and entitlement models.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in Salesforce ecosystem with exposure to billing, entitlement, or monetization platforms.
  • Strong experience with Metronome or similar consumption-based billing systems.
  • Proven experience working with entitlement management systems and licensing models (named-user, concurrent-user).
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating from legacy systems to modern platforms.
  • Proven experience working with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • A comprehensive understanding of REST APIs and proficiency with Postman tools is considered a significant advantage for this role
  • Strong understanding of usage-based pricing, billing processes, and entitlement frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience integrating billing platforms with Salesforce CRM and downstream provisioning systems.
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition, subscription lifecycle, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Experience in SaaS or hybrid licensing models.
  • Exposure to event-driven architectures and real-time usage processing.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale product launches.
