Advertised Salary: Minimum of $1353 per credit hour; if an advanced degree is held in the primary academic discipline, the minimum rate increases to $1,458 per credit hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement.

Summary of Position: The College of Business at Ferris State University seeks an adjunct instructor to teach undergraduate courses in the Music Entertainment Business program via face-to-face and/or mixed delivery. The COB is dedicated to providing a learning experience that instills in its students knowledge, competencies, and skills for entry-level and job advancement in their chosen careers. To facilitate this, faculty are expected to be student-oriented and able to integrate current technology into the learning environment.
Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's campuses or an approved FSU site. The candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.
The anticipated start date of this position is August 2026 at the earliest and January 2027 at the latest. However, these dates are estimates and may be revised as needed.
The selected candidate for this position must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future.
Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing
Required Education: Master's degree with 18 credit hours in graduate-level business, music, or hospitality-related courses.
OR
Master's degree with a combined experience of 4 years or more in any of the following: merchandise sales, venue management, live performance, artist management, entertainment law, or music publishing.
OR
Master's degree in a business or hospitality-related discipline with a combined experience of 3 years or more in teaching, hospitality, and/or the music industry.
Required Work Experience: Three or more years of experience in the music business and/or related industry positions (hospitality/venue management/marketing/operations) as listed in the required education section.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Track record of assisting future professionals in the music business or related industry.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in the Music Entertainment Business program face-to-face, and/or synchronous online delivery. With the possible teaching of undergraduate courses in the Hospitality Management program.
Part-time teaching and related responsibilities; utilizing face-to-face, blended, and/or online modes of delivery; delivery on or off campus; assuring/improving learning through assessment; close consultation with program faculty, as well as training via the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are not limited to keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (e.g., reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an online environment.
Candidates are expected to foster a meaningful learning experience for our students, and faculty are expected to be student-oriented, advise, and integrate current technology into the learning environment.
Additionally, faculty will participate in collaborative efforts to advance curricular initiatives, assess student learning, and further develop programmatic enhancements.
Specifically, we expect the candidate to be willing to engage students outside the classroom, support and expand our existing academic initiatives, and mentor students beyond a traditional academic advising role.
In support of teaching, candidates will engage in scholarly/professional activities and participate in department, college, and university committees.
Off-campus and online teaching may be required.
Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
