An ENT Medical Assistant (MA) is a healthcare professional who works directly with an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctor,?supporting patient care by performing administrative tasks like scheduling appointments, taking medical histories, and assisting with clinical procedures such as ear cleaning, allergy testing, and minor surgeries, all while ensuring smooth patient flow in the ENT practice.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist with ENT-specific procedures, such as audiometry, allergy testing, and nasal endoscopies.
  • Collect and document patient history, vital signs, and reason for visit.
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and exam rooms following infection control protocols.
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care and provide instructions for prescribed treatments.
  • Conduct routine hearing screenings under physician guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Ensure inventory of medical supplies and advise when to re-order as necessary.
  • Provide compassionate care and respond to patient questions or concerns.
  • Assist with CT scan procedures by preparing equipment, positioning patients, and ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical patient rooms, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are sterilized and readily available.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments, including obtaining medical histories, verifying consent forms, and providing patient education.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, especially ENT-related procedures and treatments preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic understanding of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Previous experience in an ENT or specialty clinic is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
