Join Our Thriving Otolaryngology Practice on the Beautiful Central Coast!

Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) works collaboratively with the ENT physician, Audiologists and Medical Assistants to provide high-quality patient care in an Otolaryngology practice. The PA evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. Responsibilities include patient consultations, procedures, treatment planning, and assisting in both clinical and surgical settings when required.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations including medical history and physical examinations

  • Diagnose and treat common ENT conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, sinuses, head, and neck

  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physician

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as audiograms, imaging, and lab work

  • Prescribe medications and therapies within scope of practice

Procedures

  • Perform in-office ENT procedures such as:

    • Ear cleaning / cerumen removal

    • Nasal endoscopy

    • Flexible laryngoscopy

    • Incision and drainage of abscesses

    • Biopsies

    • Removal of foreign bodies

    • Management of epistaxis (nosebleeds)

Surgical Support (if applicable)

  • Assist the physician in surgical procedures

  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care

  • Conduct post-surgical follow-up visits

Patient Education

  • Educate patients about ENT conditions and treatment options

  • Provide guidance on medication use, post-procedure care, and preventative health

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Complete patient notes, procedure documentation, and treatment plans

Collaboration

  • Work closely with physicians, audiologists, medical assistants, and administrative staff

  • Coordinate care with referring providers and specialists

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

  • Current PA license in California

  • DEA license

  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

  • ENT or surgical experience preferred but not required
