Telecommuting Eligibility: Eligible for telecommuting up to 20% during summer, not eligible during school year.

Position Summary:
The Multilingual Curriculum Leader is a key member of the Curriculum & Instruction team and the Department of Multilingual Education and Related Programs. This role¿leads'the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum, instructional practices, and professional learning that support Multilingual Learners (MLLs) across grade levels. The Multilingual Curriculum Leader collaborates across district departments and with school leaders to expand access to high-quality multilingual education and ensure the implementation of research-based instructional practices aligned with state standards and the district's vision for excellent instruction.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate experience and expertise in:
- English Language Development (ELD) and the integration of language development across content areas
- Use of assessment and data to drive instructional improvement for multilingual learners
- Instructional coaching and adult learning
- Supporting diverse learners within multilingual education programs
- Program implementation and continuous improvement across multiple grade bands
- SIOP trained or experience with SIOP instruction
- Second Language spoken at native like proficiency strongly preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; Master's degree preferred
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with ESL or Bilingual endorsement required (NS, YN or YT)
- K-12 classroom teaching experience required, with at least five (5) years of successful experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with multilingual learners
- At least three (3) years of instructional leadership, coaching, or curriculum leadership experience highly preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Essential Functions:
- Create and sustain a strong culture that reflects the mission and vision of the District and advances, equitable outcomes for multilingual learners.
- Guide the design and development of standards-aligned curriculum and written guidance aligned to district instructional framework for multilingual learners.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of multilingual education curriculum resources, including scope and sequence, assessments, and instructional materials.
- Collaborate with the members of core content areas in the Office of Academics to guide the implementation of curriculum and SIOP instructional practices that support multilingual learner achievement.
- Serve as a district leader in coordinating multilingual curriculum initiatives across schools to ensure alignment, prioritization, and coherence.
- Provide leadership and support to educators to strengthen instructional practices that integrate English Language Development across content areas.
- Support teachers with implementation of instructional materials, assessments, and resources related to English Language Development, Newcomer Programming, and other language models.
- Analyze program and student performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of multilingual education initiatives and inform improvements in curriculum, professional learning, and instructional support.
- Design and facilitate professional learning aligned with the district's vision for excellent instruction and the needs of multilingual learners.
- Provide ongoing, job-embedded coaching and support for educators implementing multilingual instructional practices.
- Support school leaders in implementing school improvement strategies related to multilingual learner success.
- Maintain strong organizational systems to monitor implementation and ensure fidelity to Multilingual program goals
- Demonstrate a commitment to antiracism and equity by affirming the identities and linguistic assets of multilingual learners and supporting strong instructional practices across schools.
- Complete all other tasks as assigned.
