Job description

Job Description- Technical Writer

A client of ours is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to serve as a Communication Analyst supporting the Health Information Technology & Service (HITS) IT Integration portfolio.

IT Integration is a multi-year effort to bring their Academic Medical Center (AMC) and Regional IT organizations together as one unified team, with common systems, tools, processes, and support models. The portfolio includes multiple programs and projects focused on integrating technology and services while creating a more consistent experience for the employees and teams who rely on them.

This transformation will introduce significant changes for HITS employees and the broader community. Clear, coordinated, and audience-focused communication will be critical to helping people understand and successfully navigate those changes.

The Technical Writer will work across the IT Integration portfolio, partnering with Customer Experience Organizational Change Management (OCM) Leads, program and project teams, and subject matter experts to plan, develop, coordinate, and distribute communications. This role will support both portfolio-wide communications and communications associated with large-scale(SG1.1) technology and service changes.

The ideal candidate can quickly step into complex initiatives, build relationships with stakeholders, provide sound judgement, and independently execute communications and change management work from planning through execution.

• Support planning, execution, and measurement of change management and communication deliverables for complex technology and operational initiatives.

• Translate stakeholder needs and change impacts into actionable communication, engagement, and readiness deliverables.

• Develop internal communications, including executive, leadership, clinical, and employee communications for high-visibility initiatives.

• Partner with project leaders on messaging, stakeholder engagement, communication timing, and change readiness.

• Translate complex technical information into clear, audience-centered communications. Seek innovative ways to communicate effectively with customers, which may include visuals, graphics or video.

• Develop communications and facilitate review processes for assigned initiatives.

• Identify communication and adoption risks and collaborate with Customer Experience to recommend mitigation strategies.

• Independently manage multiple deliverables and deadlines while providing visibility into status, risks, and dependencies.

• Executing communications and readiness plans for major EHR, infrastructure, or enterprise IT initiatives.

• Developing stakeholder or site-specific communications and executive messaging.

• Creating communications for complex system implementations, outages/downtime, and workflow changes.

• Developing presentations, talking points, FAQs, toolkits, web content, and leadership materials.

• Coordinating communications across multiple projects and identifying cross-project dependencies, opportunities, and risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, business, healthcare administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Approximately 4+ years (ML2.1)(KH2.2)(KH2.3)(ML2.4)(ML2.5)of progressive experience in communications or a related field.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 including Teams, SharePoint, CoPilot, and Office Suite; and Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.

• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to quickly understand complex topics, identify implications for stakeholders, and communicate in a simple, direct manner.

• Strong time management, prioritization, and facilitation skills.

• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and independently driving work in a remote environment.
