What You Will Do:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Supervisor to join our growing team in our Loudoun, VA office. The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the full project cycle—from initial conceptual design and development through to the completion of construction. In this leadership role, you will manage client relationships, act as Project Manager and/or Engineer of Record as needed, and regularly attend project meetings and industry events to grow client partnerships and identify future work.

You will also supervise and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff, supporting their professional development and ensuring alignment with project and business goals. This includes managing team performance, facilitating weekly meetings, and guiding resource planning and workload allocation across offices using tools such as, Microsoft Teams, and Excel. The Engineering Supervisor will also collaborate with Department and Regional Managers on staffing, business planning, recruiting, and revenue goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop client relationships and lead meetings with architects, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project success
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff, overseeing performance, workload, and professional development
  • Problem solve challenging technical design issues during design and construction. Review drawings to confirm that office quality control standards are being upheld. Provide assistance in the response to complex field construction questions and RFI responses.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to manage resources, share project updates, and promote collaboration across offices
  • Manage client relationships and lead coordination with architects, contractors, and internal teams
  • Act as Project Manager and/or Engineer of Record (EOR) on select projects
  • Oversee construction document preparation, and technical deliverables to ensure quality, submission deadlines are meet and the accuracy and completeness of the work.
  • Support business development efforts, including client retention, and proposal writing.
  • Partner with Department and Regional Managers on recruiting, onboarding, and performance management
  • Track project revenue, complete monthly recognition, and provide updates on key financial metrics
  • Contribute to office business planning, staffing strategy, and team engagement initiatives

What We Are Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • PE or SE License
  • BS w/ PE, MS w/ PE and / or SE
  • 10 to 20 years experience in commercial or institutional building design
  • Active Professional Engineer license, possibly in multiple states
  • Seismic experience is desirable.
  • Prior experience with Revit is needed
  • Experience with industry standard software, including but not limited to Microsoft products, Bentley (RAM) products, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines, and bring each to completion.
  • Ability to identify applicable codes in project-specific jurisdictions and apply to the project.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required
  • Be self motivated and able to work within a team structure and also work independently.
  • Be willing to take ownership of all work performed.
