People skills are required as communication with the factory, your task owners, your customer and all "stake holders" go through the project manager.

Design Engineer: As the position is a technical role, it is required that the PM\DE will need to step in as a task owner to keep the project progressing. This could include modifying bills of materials, electrical schematics, panel layouts, or O&M manuals. Technical submittals must be reviewed prior to sending to the customer. This role requires a review from a "system perspective". The PM\DE will be the closest to anticipating how the customer will accept the submittal.
