Job description

ASSA ABLOY Americas is seeking a Project Manager to lead the administration and delivery of a portfolio of projects related to mechanical and electro-mechanical product lines. This role is responsible for driving end-to-end project execution, partnering with project stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with the division's strategic roadmap for product enhancement project initiatives.

This role is anchored to both our New Haven, CT and Berlin, CT offices. The selected hire will be expected to work onsite at each location on a regular weekly basis.

What you will be doing 

  • Leads and manages complex mechanical and electro-mechanical new product and product enhancement projects.
  • Coordinates the work of cross-functional and multi-location project teams to accomplish all project tasks and milestones.
  • Ensures projects follow the ASSA ABLOY LEAN New Product Development (NPD) Gateway Process.
  • Creates project schedules, tracks progress and drives project team to obtain schedule milestones.
  • Cross collaborate with Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Product Management Teams, etc.
  • Holds frequent project pulse meetings to ensure timely communication within the project team and the rapid completion of key tasks.
  • Ensures the identification, resolution and escalation of key project issues to senior management.
  • Communicates project analytics, status, plans and risk management strategies to the senior leadership team.
  • Ensure designs meet product requirements & specifications.
  • Extracts, evaluates & conveys product costs from MRP Systems.
  • Documents project status utilizing MS Project, SharePoint & LEAN NPD Tools.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree.
  • 2+ years managing large complex cross-functional projects.
  • 3-5 Years of Engineering experience required.
  • Strong presentation, organizational & communications skills.
  • Must have previous experience working with CAD modeling software.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies such as Stage-Gate Process, Waterfall, or hybrid.
  • Ability to Navigate Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems (ie. JD Edwards ERP) to Extract Product Cost.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including MS Project, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time domestically.

Preferred Skills

  • Facilitates FMEA, DFMA, risk analysis & design review processes within assigned projects.
  • Electro/Mechanical experience a plus.
