Job description

The Project Manager with our Engineering department is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering a portfolio of projects of varying scope and complexity across the organization. These may include, but not limited to, infrastructure upgrades, and equipment manufacturing and modernization projects; electrification and decarbonization projects aligned with the organization's ESG goals; safety and compliance initiatives; and automation projects.

Reporting to the Director of Civil Engineering & Projects, the Project Manager provides leadership and oversight from concept development through execution, commissioning, and handover, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with SSA's policies, standards, and strategic objectives.

  • Lead assigned projects from initiation through closeout, including scope definition, budget and schedule development, risk assessment, and resource planning.
  • Prepare and maintain project execution plans and schedules for each project, ensuring alignment with SSA's CAPEX stage-gate process.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, Procurement, HSE, Legal, Finance) and external partners (contractors, suppliers, port authorities, regulators) to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Ensure that project deliverables comply with technical, safety, environmental, and quality industry standards.
  • Drive the standardization and the rationalization of the global portfolio of Engineering department, Automation and Infrastructure proposals, ensuring strong alignment with Carrix standards.
  • Manage project reporting, forecasting, and cost control to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Support the preparation of RFPs, bid evaluations, and contract awards for assigned projects.
  • Manage outsourced vendors/contractors, define and own the project governance, governance of contract for services, monitor service level agreement performance of vendor; develop action plans for any corrections & course changes.
  • Administer and monitor vendor and contractor performance against scope, schedule, cost, and safety obligations.
  • Manage change orders, claims, and risk mitigation for assigned projects.
  • Integrate the organization's sustainability objectives into project scopes, especially for electrification, emissions reduction, and safety improvements.
  • Engage with internal teams and external agencies to secure required permits and approvals.
  • Communicate project progress and impacts to internal stakeholders, terminal leadership, and external partners as required.
  • Oversee the engineering design and specification process for infrastructure and equipment projects.
  • Coordinate technical reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, and design approvals with appropriate discipline leads.
  • Support operational readiness and handover to terminal operations teams, including training and documentation.
  • Identify and manage project risks, maintaining a live risk register and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure adherence to SSA's safety, environmental, and quality policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Escalate major risks or deviations promptly to the Director of Civil Engineering & Projects.
  • Capture lessons learned from each project and contribute to improving the Company's project delivery framework.
  • Support the development of standard specifications, templates, and best practices within the Central Engineering Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
