Job description

MEP Engineering - Project Manager

BL Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering team, leading a group of engineers and designers in the successful delivery of multi-discipline projects across our numerous market sectors.  This position is a result of our continued growth and will require a high focus on resource and workload management, personnel development, and client care.

An ideal candidate will be a licensed professional engineer, having a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the management of multi-discipline projects, including coordination with internal and external architects/engineers, subcontractors, and vendors. Experience in supervising employees is required.

This position can be based in our any of the following BL locations: Meriden, Hartford, Charlotte, or Wilmington.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Execution of MEP based projects to BL’s expectations for quality, schedule, and profitability
  • Plan, coordinate, communicate, and facilitate the completion of tasks across multiple disciplines on projects of all sizes from conception through completion
  • Coordination with external clients and subconsultants
  • Participate in business development and proposal process as well as contract negotiations
  • Monitor and report to department manager the status of projects, budgets, and work backlog
  • Manage a team of multiple staff including designers and/or engineers, providing mentorship and ensuring billable targets are met
  • Recruit, develop and retain staff in support of the company's strategic growth plan

Required Experience:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • 10+ years of MEP Engineering experience, with minimum 6 years (10+ ideal) in project management
  • Supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated history of successful business development
