Bose Corporation is seeking an Senior Engineering Program Manager to join our Audio Technology Engineering Team. Our Engineering Program Managers lead small multi-functional teams including, but not limited to systems, acoustical, digital signal processing, controls, and quality engineers. In addition to our core audio engineering functions, Program Managers also coordinate activity with hardware engineers in the electrical and mechanical domains as well as with our business, sales, legal, and supply chain teams.

In this Engineering Program Manager role your primary responsibilities will be supporting our Audio Technology business unit to deliver unique Bose technologies and experiences to market through external partnerships. Products featuring those technologies or creating those experiences may range from a set of Bose developed algorithms or cutting-edge acoustical hardware reference designs to Bose acoustical tunings or extensive hardware, acoustical, and software design collaborations with an external product development partner. Secondarily, as a member of the Audio Technology Engineering team you will have opportunities to engage with our colleagues in Research and Advanced Development to support building a future product roadmap and to tap into the latest Bose inventions that have the potential to create or transform markets. Due to the nature of the Audio Technology business, this role requires effective communication across numerous different internal Bose functions as well as significant coordination with external parties interacting with Bose counterparts in technical, business, sales, product development, and strategic leadership areas. An Engineering Program Manager in this position needs to effectively represent Bose while driving activity across multiple parties around the world.

While a significant portion of the Program Manager's time will be spent defining and leading core projects, the Audio Technology business unit is new. In this job you will help define how we will operate, what tools we will use, how we will collaborate internally and how we will engage with external parties, all in service of scaling Audio Technology to a sizable and successful business and a cornerstone of Bose's portfolio.

Must have the following experience, skills, and knowledge:

  • Leading cross functional teams such as acoustical, digital signal processing, electrical, mechanical, software, supply chain and product quality

  • Experience working with external technology, design, and manufacturing partners

  • Program / project management background in consumer electronics (or medical device) product development or in the development of new technologies

  • A working understanding of software development processes and integrating with hardware designs

  • Systems-level critical thinking, Collaboration, Influencing Skills and High Emotional Intelligence

  • Experience with project scheduling and planning; MS Project or equivalent

  • Experience with project cost estimating and program accounting practices

  • Exposure to and ability to grasp basic technologies and engineering/manufacturing processes involved in product development

  • Team building and team leadership

  • Confidence to communicate effectively with cross functional technical teams, business organizations, vendors and leadership

  • Desire to learn and willingness to take on uncomfortable or unknown challenges

Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute engineering projects throughout the product lifecycle including activities related to aligning product requirements, establishing roles and responsibilities, and creating ROI projections

  • Establish and clarify project objectives and ensure that teams have the guidance and resources necessary to succeed

  • Manage project milestones for software and hardware integration

  • Lead or support new technology platforms, new product, and new product variant program development as needed

  • Set project budgets/schedules and track performance, adjusting plans as needed to align with customer needs, resource availability and competing project priorities

  • Identify and manage project risks (technical and other)

  • Build valued working relationships with technical subject matter experts on your teams as well as with stakeholders and management

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience within engineering

  • 5+ years minimum experience in a Product Development role, preferably within consumer electronics

  • 5+ years minimum experience in a Program/Project Manager role

  • BS in Engineering required

  • MS in Engineering or MBA is a plus
