Job Description

General Duties:
The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for engineering mechanical designs in the BU Products department.
Under general direction, designs and develops machine concepts based on product and customer requirements
Participate in customer meetings, internal and external design reviews
Interact with Project Management to fully understand product requirements at project line up meetings, and develop cost effective and innovative solutions
Engineer projects; line up and lead Mechanical Design Engineer; oversee design, detail and check of drawing packages
Create solid models, assembly drawings and component drawings in SolidWorks
Create designs that are aligned with our assembly and manufacturing capabilities
Ensure that design costs are controlled and stay within project design costs
Develop multi-level Bill-of-Materials
Ensure compliance with safety standards
Release of engineering package for manufacturing
Assist applications engineering with sketches and drawings for proposals
Must possess good interpersonal skills to work in cross-functional team

Qualifications

Professional Skills:
3 to 5 years experienced in SolidWorks or other 3D parametric CAD software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Apply critical thinking and problem solving to resolve technical issues
Communicate technical and non-technical topics clearly and professionally to internal and external customers
Must possess good interpersonal skills to work in cross-functional team
Ability to work in a time sensitive environment with competing demands
BSME degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering

Coordinate with clients, external resources, and internal team members to ensure that the client requirements have been accurately documented and communicated.
