You will be among the brightest minds, working on the aerospace and defense industry's most difficult problems. This role is for a combined Technical Leadership and Engineering Manager Role.

We develop highly sophisticated digital Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, and we are looking for motivated and positive minded engineers highly skilled in Electronic Attack to join cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams. This is a dual role where you will perform in the player-coach model, where some of your time is allocated to being a team manager of engineers and part of your time as an individual contributor. This balance enables you to work on programs as a technical contributor/leader and manage systems engineering team.
Roles and Responsibilities (Engineering Manager):
  • As a functional manager you will manage a team of engineers (8-10). You will report directly to the Systems Engineering Section Manager, where he/she will be your guide and mentor.
  • As a member of the systems engineering staff, you will help to shape future systems engineers to optimize their performance
  • Recruit, retain, train, recognize and develop systems engineers to achieve their highest potential in alignment with the business needs
  • Assign team members as appropriate to programs, IRADs and proposals
  • Develop individual and group goals and objectives
  • Collect and provide performance feedback
  • Communicate flow-down company, business area and discipline information
  • Mentor and develop career and training plans
  • Ensure group members adhere to BAE Systems' cultural principals, policies and vision
Roles and Responsibilities (Technical contributor):
As a technical contributor your focus will be on delivering innovative Electronic Warfare (EW) solutions. Individual technical contributions on a related range of Programs will include system development, requirements development, integration & test, and test planning and execution in a field deployment environment. You will be assigned to work on one or more programs applying your systems engineering skills. Example of roles that you could have are product capture and proposals, product design, requirements derivation and allocation, conducting and leading design reviews, creating development plans, design models, performance models, system integration, verification and test, tool development, trade studies, testing at customer and USG test facilities, product build support in our factories. Responsibilities may include:
  • Leading a medium or large team of Systems Engineers on EW related programs
  • Managing all system engineering content and work products
  • Understanding and implementing the product development process
  • Schedule and cost account responsibilities for systems team
  • Execution of systems planning and requirements development
  • Creation and review of systems requirements to include software, component, subsystem, and operational concepts
  • Allocation of requirements to engineering disciplines
  • Creating system test plans, procedures and reports
  • Leading product design, development, integration, and verification
  • Will have outside contact with customers, other contractors and government officials.
  • Manage and participate in trade studies, peer reviews, and customer meetings
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations internally and with customers.
  • Monitor and report metrics such as System Technical Performance Measures
  • Supports proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost and schedule estimating, and presentation activities.
  • Our products are primarily Electronic Warfare systems that enable our warfighters to execute their missions safely.
  • This part of the role will enable you to engage in developing our EW solutions. There will be opportunities to use your existing skills and develop new ones as we work to extend your career path in alignment with your goals and the company needs.
  • Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this role, it will be performed full-time onsite. This means work will be conducted on-site at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science and 10 years of work experience.
  • Technical team leadership
  • Strong skills in people management and team collaboration within systems engineering and across disciplines
  • Able to evaluate root cause and make timely decisions
  • Able to lead a team to adapt to changes effectively

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • M.S. in either Systems, Software, or Electrical Engineering
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
  • Integration & test experience in EW Systems
  • Functional management leadership experience (e.g., performance management, staffing)
  • EW system design experience and product development across engineering lifecycle (e.g., requirements analysis, architecture design/development, integration, verification, sell-off, security accreditation, and maintenance)
  • Experience with Systems Engineering development of DoD systems
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external customers
  • Experience developing/reviewing technical and cost artifacts for new business activities
  • Experience supporting trade studies, concept of operation development, Cost Account Management, engineering initiatives and agile process application

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
