Job description

We are looking for an Electromechanical Engineering Manager to join our Spacecraft Flight Cable and Harness Design team!
The team supports multiple lines of business at Lockheed Martin which means you could be designing wiring systems for the next mission to Mars or the next generation of GPS satellites.
Location: This position does not support teleworking; you will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in: Littleton CO or Sunnyvale CA and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.


What does this role look like?
Provide leadership, functional management and technical direction to a team of engineers responsible for electromechanical engineering research, design, development, and production support for the Harness Spacecraft Flight Team.
Responsible to provide the functional directorate, program management, and their customers' effective project management, accurate and detailed plans and schedules and efficient production support.
Responsible for working with our Subject Matter Experts to develop training material to be used with our early career engineers and new hires, to help establish consistency across our team. Content will include at a minimum 3D MCAD (Creo Parametric Cabling) best practices, harness design principles, and design for manufacturability content as a few examples. This curriculum will be developed with help from our senior engineers but it will be the responsibility of the Associate Manager to build the training material and maintain it.
Responsible for the direct development and training of new team members, to get them proficient in our software tools (Creo Parametric Cabling) and to ensure competence while building them towards mastery, providing them guidance and support along the way.


Key activities you will accomplish in this role:
Develop, maintain, and administer Spacecraft Harness Design training material to help establish and maintain consistency across our team.
Provide leadership on a fast paced team from requirements through development and production.
Be responsible to assure coordination between functional groups during the product development life cycle.
Communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer.
Conducting personnel management for a portion of the Spacecraft Flight team.
Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training.
Responsible for performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
Participate in technical reviews and audits.


To be effective in this role, you will need:
Flight Cable & Harness design or production experience, having lead Program Design teams and been sought after as a Subject Matter Expert.
While no clearance is needed to start in this position, you will need to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance, thus US Citizenship is required.
